So..

I know I'm off to a bit of a rough start on this.  I'm still trying to work out exactly how to go about it.  I suppose since I already told you a little about me and what got me started on making chainmaille jewelry, I'll try to describe a little bit about how I'm going about running it as a business.

For right now I just have Facebook, Instagram, and word of mouth to get my name and creations out there.  I am hoping that this blog will help as well and will be somewhere for those who may not have social media accounts to get to know me and see my work so they know what they're getting when they make a purchase.  My goal is to hopefully get more people interested in what I'm making and get a bigger base for sales.  I also hope to get some people interested in chainmaille in general because it's pretty amazing stuff.

Not only did they wear it as armor all over the world as an effective defense against slashing blows by edged weapons and penetration by thrusting and piercing weapons (it wasn't so great against blunt weapons), but mail continues to be used in the 21st century as a component of stab-resistant body armor, cut-resistant gloves for butchers and woodworkers, shark-resistant wetsuits for defense against shark bites, and a number of other applications!

Anyway, back to the topic.  You're probably wondering how this will work with just one person running everything, so here's a little bit of a breakdown for you on my current (potentially to change) sales process.  As I make things I am taking pictures of (generally) the finished piece to post to Instagram and Facebook for all to see! If someone sees a piece that they like, they send a message and let me know! When I get the message, I would find out more details from them like what size they would like (ie: how big around is your wrist/neck/ankle), what colors they would like, and any other details that would be needed depending on the piece chosen.  From there, I can let you know the price and potential time frame.  If you are agreeable to the price and time frame, I'll order the rings and make the piece as soon as they arrive!  I also consider unique custom orders, so if you have an idea for something not pictured, send a message anyway! I'll do my best to create what you're looking for.

I'll use the blog primarily for describing the pieces in deeper details than Facebook or Instagram allow and will post some of the behind-the-scenes action here too.  You'll be able to see as pieces are made and watch as the finished creations come to fruition.

Here are a few collages of some of the things I have made so far.  I'll post more details about each of them soon!

New Captures

Pixie Snowflake The first of the new captures is called Pixie Snowflake.  It features a Swarovski Crystal Rivoli in Sapphire.  It is a gorgeous design from Dawdling Dragons.  This one is the pendant size, but it can also be made in earring size.   The second is called Crystal Cascade. This one, in particular, is made with rainbow hematite beads and a Swarovski Crystal Rivoli in the color called Vitrail Medium.  It is a stunning piece and, while a little big for any pendant I personally would wear, it is an amazing statement piece or even an ornament if you choose. Crystal Cascade Pendant The next is a collection of captures done in aluminum and rubber and connected with Byzantine units to support the weight and give the piece some stability.  It is the Galaxy Necklace and features Swarovski Crystal Rivolis in Emerald. Galaxy Necklace Galaxy Necklace Closeup Rings and Kits for all pieces completed are from Da...

Custom Piece!

Provided photo of Isagenix Logo I have finished a custom requested piece for a lovely woman who wanted her business logo on a necklace.  After lots and lots of playing around with rings, I finally fabricated a workable necklace!  I delivered it to her a few days ago and am happy to report she loved it!!  For those who may not know, the logo she requested (see picture) is for Isagenix.  It was a few tricky looking shapes to try to make and took a lot longer than I care to admit (lol) to figure out a way to make it.  I was able to get it all done though, mostly in a simple European 4 in 1 pattern with some Half-Persian for stabilization.  I've added some photos of the process.  These are all the same photos I had sent to her throughout and I would do the same for you if you were to request a custom piece (or any piece if you'd like updates). Step One: Making the shapes  The first thing I did was try to get the different shapes of the logo m...
